Struggling with my extremely clingy DD

Hi Mums! Wanted some help with separation anxiety, (or at least that's what it looks liek to me), relly struggling rn.

Some backgorund: My 3 yo DD has always been incredibly close to her dad. Like seriously, she usually won't even go to sleep in the evening unless her dad is there. Now, my DH is travelling abroad for a couple of weeks, (the first time he's been away for so long. Previously he's only been away for 2 nights tops) and I'm really struggling. My goodness!! Every night has become a battle, with endless crying that lasts well into the night. It's only been 2 days, I'm hoping she will adjust but Id love some advice from anyone whose been through this.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to deal with this intense separation anxiety and the bedtime struggles I'm facing?

Seriously, any tips or strategies would be a lifesaver, thanks in advance for your help!

A video call before bed?

Have you tried giving her a piece of clothing of your husband's to snuggle at night? Does he have a particular deodorant he uses, that you could perhaps spray onto it lightly? Has your husband managed to Facetime or call and speak to her in the evening before bed? It's something that could calm her but on the other hand may make the situation worse! Keep reassuring her that Daddy will be home. My husband used to have to go away with work for a few days at a time when my son was young 18 months - 3 years old, and he would fret, ask for Daddy constantly and there wasn't much I could do but reassure him. My husband made sure he called every night and spoke to him though and sometimes in the morning too. She will get used to it, because she'll have too. Once this time is out the way, hopefully it will be easier the next time.
