Scared of the dark

Any tips on how to encourage a 6 year old to stay in their own bed? My DS is making a nightly shuffle across the landing into our bed and we are exhausted! We are planning a crack down, and so far have night lights, worry bears and reward chart on the list. Any other tips from parents out the other side of this phase?

I was scared of the dark as a child (still get a bit spooked sometimes after a scary movie) and my dd too.

It depends what they're scared of. If it's semi-realistic like burglars, then make a big show of locking the doors and windows in the evening.

If it's unrealistic (monsters etc) you need magical thinking. For example a large dinosaur toy that will scare monsters away. Try to be as convincing as you can

Dd's nightlight is shaped like a glowing bear and monsters are scared away by it

We used to have a cot mattress on the floor next to our bed they just came in and went straight to sleep. Anything to get a good night's sleep. Better than being in your bed. They all grow out if it eventually.

I was scared of the dark as a kid, I still am actually, a nightlight and the radio on was the only thing that could settle me. If you had an old phone that you could put in his room I’m just leave it play on a playlist would that help?

The grolight fitting would be perfect for this. Have a look at Amazon and Vinted.
