8 month old won’t drink water

I have tried various cups and she doesn’t understand how to suck it, I have tried it in her bottle and she refuses.
A friend suggested if she really doesn’t like water try a tiny amount of squash in it as any drink is better than nothing but I’m not sure if she should have that.
She is formula fed and at the moment is only having formula as a drink and we’ve been offering water since 6 months but she doesn’t want it.
Would you give a baby squash as a last resort?

No, I wouldn't start offering squash! Have you tried an open cup like a Doidy?

We have offered a sippy cup and a straw cup but she won’t drink and put it in her bottle that she uses for milk but as soon as she realises it’s water she pushes it away

At that stage you can just offer it alongside meals. Try a very small open cup or shot glass and model what to do with it.

No to squash!!!!

Just keep offering it. And try an open cup if you haven't already - been so long since I had babies that I don't remember what a sippy cup is, but by 8 months mine were drinking messily from a Doidy cup.

You definitely don’t need to be offering an 8mo squash! My second didn’t really get the straw cup or sippy cup for a while but was keen to grab our drinks so I just offered her some water in an open cup, then moved to a munchkin 360 cup (which my older one didn’t get at all!) She is now 14 months and can drink out of anything.
They really don’t need much at that age, on a really hot day offer water rich foods like cucumber or melon. Keep giving her a cup even just to play with.

Agree on no to squash. Have you tried putting her formula in the cups you’re using for water?

We struggled until ours was 9 months, hang in there. We use a mam learn to drink cup with the valve removed to make it free flow, put some yoghurt on the spout to encourage drinking, then clapped and made a fuss every time he bought it to his lips/drank sips. We also used the same cup and pretended to drink. We did at one point try mixing a tiny bit of prune puree in to his water (so like squash but without all the nasties) which did work but didn’t want to get in the habit of doing this…

No but that’s a good idea

Keep offering my daughter was 18 months before she accepted any none breastmilk/formula based drinks!
It was super infuriating but we got there!

Try an open cup but also get a tea set for the bath. It’s amazing how many kids will drink bath water.
