Help! My soon to be 6yo is making party planning a nightmare. I’d just assumed we’d do a whole class party in a hall with bouncy castle this year as first year in school. DS has said no wants a house party……but only wants to invite 3 from class, none of whom I know and I doubt they’ll come as they’re not that close. Family wise there’s not many kids to invite either - maybe 3 or 4 but can’t guarantee they’ll come. DS is insisting have it at home and and I know it’s not about me but I’m stuck how to make it work and not looking forward to it so stalling making a plan - it’s in about 5 weeks

What about doing something else like suggesting taking a small group of friends to an activity? I'm not sure what 6 year old boys like but based on the girls parties I've been to this year it's been things like a small group to paint ceramics with lots of cake and hot chocolate, a gymnastics party, soft play party. Doesn't need to be the whole class but you could choose a small group (larger than 3 friends) and if you pick something fun then the kids will want to come. Don't get stressed about it. Maybe your son is worried about it or there's something underlying that he feels a bit insecure? What does he like to do out of school? Could just be a football game in the park or the garden with food and giant inflatable balls? Invite the parents and put on some food/drinks for them. Could you create a WhatsApp group and put out some feelers to see if his friends are free and could come?
