Spit up or vomit?

Hello, I have a 16 week old baby. She spits up after feeds but tends to be a dribble. She just got hiccups and I coukd see some was stuck in her throat, so I sat her up and then she burped and so much came out. She has hiccups now and some more got a little stuck.

The spit up was like water with milk bits floating in it (sorry tmi). No temp and she seems happy.

I'm seeing a friend today which is a 40 min drive away and don't want to leave if it is in fact vomit.

Not experienced this before.

It will have been trapped wind under the milk in her tummy and when she's got the hiccups and you've lifted her up its forced the wind and milk back up. Totally normal x

If she's just been fed I would think it's regurgitation of the feed, brought on by the hiccups. She's probably fine but may need more feed when she's stopped hiccupping depending how much she threw back (if she seems hungry). If you are worried or she starts to seem unwell talk to your midwife or 111.

Sounds like a burp spit, usually performed by babies just as you're about to leave the house (alongside filling their nappy) or travelling on public transport. They time it beautifully.

Sounds normal to me after a feed. As pp have said it’s probably trapped wind after guzzling 😊 hope you have a nice day out

How the other half live! I've had 3 babies with reflux and this was an every 10 minute occurrence. How nice it must be to have a baby of 4 months that's never done more than spit up.

It's absolutely normal, probably just a burp, nothing to worry about unless you think she's unwell in herself. Just take a muslin out with you in case there's any more to follow.
