Out n About double versus Babyjogger City Mini GT2 double?

I'm looking at getting either a Out n About double or a Babyjogger City Mini GT2 double as these seem to be the double prams with the highest weight limit for the seats. I will have a newborn and a tall 3.5 year old who has mobility issues and can't walk far compared to other kids her age.

Has anyone tried both of these or had a good experience with one of them? The main things I'm wondering are:

  1. Which will fit in the boot (Ford Focus) better for days out?
  2. Which will fit through normal doorways?
  3. Which is better on surfaces such as grass and gravel (even our local park has gravel paths and we go to National Trust type places). We also spent time on narrow city footpaths.
  4. Which will last longest for our older child?

I also like the look of Mountain buggy duet but it has a lower weight limit so probably no good for us. Are there any othe options I should be considering?

I have the Babyjogger - I get on with it pretty well. We live in the sticks and it handles paths and tracks nicely. I have a narrow front door and it fits through with a bit of a wiggle, so normal doors should be absolutely fine. The main advantage for me is that the folding is incredibly easy, just pull the handles on the seats and job done - I don’t think the out and about is bad for folding, but if that’s a consideration the Babyjogger really is very easy. The basket capacity also isn’t bad, and I like the access through the front too. I drive a massive car so not sure how it would fit in a Ford Focus boot sadly!

The negatives are that it’s heavy - from googling it looks as though the Out and About is 3kg or so lighter which will make a difference (especially when pushing two kids!) and not very easy to manoeuvre one handed - I don’t know how the Out and About fares in doing that, but if it’s better then that’s a big advantage as when the toddler insists on walking being able to hold a hand and push easily at the same time is great!

Uppababy minu duo launched earlier this year and has a 22kg per seat weight limit. I have the minu single and its a good compact / travel buggy. More for city streets but it does ok on our local national trust place - probably not as easy as the OnA though. I also looked at a Joie Estrella - also 22kg per seat but couldn't find one to try. (In the end, we didn't go with a double at all - just single buggy and buggy board).

Edit to add - my eldest is under physio for suspected hypermobility and I wish I had invested in the double at the time so you are definitely making the right call in getting one!

Second edit to add - i just realised you are looking from newborn. I think the joie might be 6m+ so you can discount. The uppababy is from birth though.

I've never used either but they both look great. Both the childminders we used had the Out n About double and loved it especially for easy pushing even with a buggy board and several bags on boards and the big wheels for forest school. I did see one of the other childminders they know with the Baby Jogger.
