dd1 moans a lot if I pick her up and say we're not doing anything

if I say 'oh we'll just play in the garden/house' or something

she is always on to go out to park or ice-cream or something

I have been ill for a while and don't feel up to doing masses; we do go to the park about once a week, and sometimes she goes to my mum's (which is tedious, I admit)

but I wonder if I am shortchanging her in the Fun stakes because I'm not up to much or if most people just go home and fanny around rather than constantly rush off to activities

she goes to Brownies one night

sometime we go round to friend's house on Friday though tbh it's a friend I want to see, not one with children she particularly likes, though she does play quite happily

am I a bad lazy parent or a normal one?

what do you do after school?

Tues & Wed are football practise for my DS's, which go on for an hour after school, but other than that, we get in & the boys demand food of some kind, then want to watch telly or play on the playstation. I am also needing a bit of chill time with a cup of tea, as I work at the school!
After tea, we normally do their reading books, then bath, after which they often want to make microwave popcorn, then chill for a bit before bedtime.

DS1 is 5,
Monday swimming lesson 4-4.30. Home, tea, bath, bed
Tues - plays football for half an hour at duck pond after school with friends, home, tea, play in house or garden with me(football), bath bed, some TV maybe (more on some nights than others).
Wed - as above
Thurs - as above
Fri - as above
Sat - Football 10-11.30

Not been in usual routine for a few months as ds2 is immobile in a hip spica, but 'normally' have playdate either here or at a friends one night of the week or once a fortnight.

I make up lunch boxes, prepare dinner and do housework. If I didn't it wouldn't get done. DCs watch TV, play in the garden or go out on their bikes or skateboards, with or without neighbours DCs. DD goes climbing once a week. Rarely do anything more than that.

Lol Olive. The 'Rue Poncelet' seems very aptley named.

If we go straight home, they generally plug themselves into some kids TV despite my protestations. They stop watching it the very instant that I get busy cooking tea, when they give me grief about how I "never play with them" I should take control of that whole situation, but frankly I haven't go the energy.

About twice a week, we detour to the park or a friend's house on the way home - but not in a pre-arranged way, because everything's nearby so it just kind of happens. About once a week, there's a proper, organised playdate for tea. Mainly with DD1's oldest friend, who's now at a different school.

One afternoon, DD1 has an after-school club, but there are no other formal after-school activities.
