Help! I am so out of my depth and don’t know what to do for the best. Trigger warning for inappropriate sexual stuff.

So last night I was getting my four year old ready for bed. She kept pulling down her PJ trousers giggling and saying ‘look at my vagina’. She did this for about half a dozen times until I explained that it’s not appropriate behaviour and nobody should be looking at or touching her vagina. I have told her this before. I then asked her if anyone has touched her, maybe this was a mistake on my part to ask such a loaded question, but she then said that a particular boy in her class has touched her vagina. We have asked her about it this morning, and she is maintaining that it happened whilst sat on the carpet and at the table. She has previously lied about a different boy in her class hitting her but she did eventually admit she was being dishonest upon further questioning but she is adamant about this so it feels different. I don’t know what to do next? Should I keep her off until I feel like it’s resolved. What should I say to school? She is in school nursery and turned four in March. Any advice is welcome please. Thanks.

I think the NSPCC would give good advice.

Agree nspcc and also tell nursery. Just report what your DC said and then they will take it from there. We had an incident at nursery once along these lines and it was dealt with very quickly and well. I can't go in to further details and I don't know what happened to the other child but our DC is well.

What did the nursery do?

Talk to the school about it, but yes your question was loaded and your reaction to her mucking around was over the top.
