Trying for 2nd baby - why am I suddenly nervous??

My DS is 19 months and we have decided to start trying for the 2nd one. I have been so incredibly broody for the last new months, but now we have decided to take the plunge I feel suddenly v nervous!
Lots of feelings are flooding in - guilt about how it will affect my DS, overwhelmed at starting the whole process again, worried about awful morning sickness like last time.
I do still definitely want another baby but maybe bcI know what I am in for, it´s all quite monumental!
Having said that, most parents I talk to say the 2nd baby slots right in...
Anyone else going through this??

I think everyone goes through this.

You're taking a step into the known (you've already had a baby) and the unknown (dealing with two babies). It will be something new and different, and that can be scary.

Good luck xx

I remember feelings of trepidation when trying for my second - there are just 17 months between my two boys.

To be perfectly honest, I was so busy looking after DS1 who was still a baby, the pregnancy with DS2 just seemed to bo by with me hardly noticing. Second time around labour and delivery were much easier and more straight forward, and yes DS2 did seem to just slot into the day to day routine as it was then.

Morning sickness wasn't so bad second time around, and although you may think having a second is going to be double the work, it is easier because, as you say, you've been there, done it, bought the t-shirt, etc....

Good luck Heather - I hope you have fun trying for your second baby!

Hello,
I have just been going through this too. We were planning on starting trying and then it happened 1st time after a quick fumble I was really shocked when I found out and I started worrying about how I would cope with 2. I think it was more scary the second time because I now know what to expect from the pregnancy and looking after a newborn and the sleepless nights! The first time I was naive and dreamy but this works both ways maybe, and this time I hope I will be prepared and it won't be such a shock to the system as the first. I am expecting it to be hard work therefore maybe I'll be pleasantly surpised if it all is a little smoother than expected. I really want DS to have a brother or sister and so I'm looking forward to it now.
