Weaning - how did I learn to eat 30 odd years ago?

I’m weaning my child at the moment and I find the ways I have to teach my child fascinating. The BLW and traditional.

My mum was a foreigner with very little English learnt. She weaned me purely on jar food and purees.
She never showed me how to chew etc.
We didn’t sit together to eat.
I didn’t start school until I was in reception.
She didn’t follow recommendations on how to cut food.
How did I learn to chew? How did I not choke?

I don't remember showing my child how to chew 🤔

Apparently I was weaned on swiss muesli (40+ years ago)

In the UK babies at that time were weaned by starting with purées and then introducing more texture, learning to chew along the way. I can’t speak for what your Mum did with you though!

I am not a picky eater either. I’ll eat anything!
I am so scared of my child choking etc making exaggerated mouth movements whilst chewing and then there’s my mum who just winged it and I turned out okay. It’s fascinating! I don’t even think I had a high chair.

Chewing is a normal and they don’t need to be taught.
