How do I get her to poo before bed?

DD1 seems to have got herself into a routine of pooing at 8pm, although her bedtime is 7.
So every night I come up and check around 8 and sure enough she has filled her nappy and needs changing. We have tried putting her on the potty, we have tried keeping her up until 8 but she seems to only want to poo when she is in bed (although I know she is out of bed looking out of the window, I just can't catch her at it!)

Is there anything I can give her to make he go earlier and so kick her out of this routing.
Have tried loads of fruit, that just meant it needed extra wipes and a new pair of pj's!

id do lots of dried apricots and prunes at breakfast and in the morning.

IMO they seem to work like magic

how old is your DD?

girliefriend · 19/05/2008 20:23

hello have exactly the same problem with my dd, she will always wait till bedtime, i think she has bowels of steele to hold on!

ChirpyGirl · 19/05/2008 20:28

She is 2.3
Will have to go and stock up on teh dried fruit tomorrow then! I hadn't tried prunes yet in the vain hope that someone has another idea as they are revolting and the smell makes me gag.
knowing my luck she will refuse to eat them! Apricots should be ok though

I just odn't understand why they would want ot wait?!
She doesn't get any attention apart from being changed, I don't look at her or talk to her purely so as not to fuel it as an attention thing, but it has bene going on for weeks now!

Plus MIL is babysitting tomorrow night so I have to decide whether to wait until she has gone before we go out so she doesn't realise we are gone, or let MIL deal with it!

Let MIL deal withit for def! God knows why my dd is 2.3 and has been dry during the day for about a month but will not poo on the loo for love nor money, tried convincing her to go tonight and she just laughed! Will always wait til she is on her own with a nappy on ie bed time, it is quite annoying!!! xXx

Could you try not putting a nappy on at night? There would be nothing to hold on for. She may surprise you and be dry. We toilet trained our DD two weeks ago, and she took her pull up off three days ago in the night, and has been dry since (one accident at nap time only).

Perhaps if there is nowhere to wait for, DD will be more inclined to poo when she needs to!

worth a try! wish me and the bed linen luck!

lou031205 · 21/05/2008 08:03

How did it go last night, girliefriend?

lou031205 · 21/05/2008 08:04

And you ChirpyGir;?

ChirpyGirl · 21/05/2008 19:42

DD1 isn't even potty trained so not going to risk no nappy!
She hasn't been well the last few days and last night I got her into bed early and checked on ehr 5 minutes after I had shut the door to discover.....a full nappy!

However, she did fill one this afternoon after her nap, so I am hoping that she has 'reorganised' her routine and that will be it for awhile...we shall see!

I chickened out! I don't think she will go through the night her nappy is always very wet in the morning but I think that will probably be the answer if we haven't gotton any further in a month or two! Its very strange, two year olds confuse me!!!!
