8 month old refusing expressed milk while I’m at work

We have only been doing breakfast and dinner solids up to this point. I was trying to take it slow with introducing meals so he isn’t having any solids at lunchtime yet. Although I might have to introduce this if we can resolve the problem

I leave expressed milk while I’m at work and baby is turning head away not interested. He might take an ounce after several attempts from whoever is looking after him

im concerned that he isn’t getting enough hydration during the day 7-3.30.. He isn’t bothered by water much. He does love food but if we bring in solids at lunchtime, won’t he just reject the milk even more as he’ll be full?

thank you mammas

Yeah you're not meant to replace milk with food at the moment. Food is meant to be complimentary and nutrition should come from milk.

Are you around for breakfast time? If so, breastfeed him and let someone else give him lunch instead.

Is your milk high lipase by any chance? Look into it, it's a real problem for some.

Does baby take a bottle from dad? If so, is there something nursery could change?

Have you tried her drinking milk from a cup?

Otherwise, baby will likely start reverse cycling and feed all night and evening. So she'll get her milk but in a way that is terribly inconvenient for you.

I only got 6 months mat leave and that's very normal where I live (not UK). My baby takes a bottle (he's 8 months too) but he only drinks a little, 3 oz × 3 feeds per day and sort of waits for me to eat loads in the evening. In the morning, he feeds hourly until I leave for work at 9am.
Lots of the women in my office had a very similar experience.

Thanks so much for your reply @BabyMrSun325
I breastfeed him before I leave for work at 6.40, then when I get back around 3.30-4. He is looked after by dad or grandparents when I’m at work, and is never interested in the expressed milk or maybe drink an ounce at best and then before we know it, the bottle has been out too long and has to be thrown away.
How do you know if milk is high lipase? I did wonder if it just tasted odd to him.

You taste it! It's supposed to taste a bit sweet and salty, high lipase makes it taste bad though

Also maybe do solids for breakfast and lunch so you breastfeed when home.

What bottles are you using? I know some babies prefer certain bottles over others
