Colic help.

Hi everyone. My baby has had colic since 3 days old. I’m now on week 12 without any changes. I’ve tried everything.. dairy free formulas, baby gaviscon.. all the colic remedies such as colief, infacol, gripe water etc. I’ve also seen an osteopath with no changes! I even turned up at the hospital 2 weeks ago because he was crying that much he was making himself choke! They told me nothing was wrong but booked me into see a paediatrician. The paediatrician couldn’t see anything visibly wrong but said we can try omoperzole incase it’s silent reflux. Since researching this medication I’m not 100% sure on using it as it stops the stomach producing acid which is needed for other functions. I am so sad all of the time. Going out is a huge challenge.. he kicks the pram covers off and literally high pitch screams. He cry’s the whole time during his wake windows! Family come over wanting to hold him and he gets even more frustrated and angry and then it upsets me. I hate people coming over :( I get upset when I see babies out and they’re content .. I just haven’t had that yet!! Can someone please tell me if their baby was similar and when the crying improved???

Mine was like that. It did improve. It took some months, and there were some days when I had to leave him to scream while I spent five minutes deep breathing in the garden for the good of my own mental health. It did go, though. Good luck.

ps nothing I tried did any good at all; it went on its own.

My first was like that too so you have my sympathy.

They had undiagnosed Tongue Tie.

Mine was the same, turns out she had a cows milk allergy, once we sorted this she was so much better

Cows milk allergy can often go alongside other allergies, notably soya. Not sure what dairy free formula you tried but worth looking into fully allergen-free formulas. It can take up to 2 weeks for the allergens to totally leave baby's system so give it some time to see the effect. Good luck, sending hugs, it's so hard with an unsettled baby x

My eldest son was the same. I would be in floods of tears because I couldn't sort out the problem. The only thing that helped was massage. Anti clockwise motions. So started at his foot and worked my way up his leg . Slow gentle circular motion around the tummy then down the other leg. It did clear up eventually. ..... sending hugs 🫂 💐 🙏 ❤️

Many of the dairy free formulas are not dairy free. They are dairy based but with the proteins broken down. You would need to try and amino acid formula that's completely dairy free such as alfamino or neocate
Omperazole reduces the amount of stomach acid but there's still plenty for digestion. My daughter has been on it since 8 weeks and will be 5 in the summer! My daughter only gets the benefit from omperazole at the highest doses and infant gaviscon (plus lactulose for the constipation) so don't discount reflux if the lower doses don't make a difference.
