just looking some advice regarding swimwear for 2yr old for general swimming pool. Are there warmer onsie suits available as those in the shops feel very thin. Thanks - mum guilt haven’t had her swimming yet!

DD had a t- shirt style swim top and briefs at that age, it was easier having separates for when she very suddenly announced needing a wee 45 seconds after getting in the water just as her swimsuit had reached full saturation and was difficult to peel on and off.

Generally I found while she was in the pool she was fine temperature wise, but got cold quickly once getting out so my focus was on speed of getting her dry. I’d whip her suit off and put her straight into a big poncho towel, that would make her warm straight away. Then I had time to get myself dressed, by which point she’d be dry enough to go into a fluffy onesie for the trip home.

Always just used a normal swimsuit for inside. Pick a warm pool!

Rash vest and shorts for outside for sun protection.

We have the terms swim linked above - it's very cosy, my daughter loves it!

Normal swimsuit all the way here. Too much of a faff otherwise. They are moving about so much and even if they get a but cold, it won’t kill them!

Won't kill them, but can definitely kill the fun if your child is the type to feel the cold in water easily. DDs lips go blue and she starts visibly shivering. No idea why - she never wants to wear a coat, even if it's freezing, and is always in shorts if it's over 10 degrees 🤷‍♀️

The rash vest type things will make them colder if they are in and out of the water as they will retain the water next to their skin and wet skin stays colder. Either normal swimming costume or a wetsuit, like the toddler one mentioned earlier are the only options really.

Have a look at Splash About online. They do swimming costumes that are a neoprene bit round the bum, which is quite tight and catches any poos that might escape a swim nappy (obviously if already potty trained then ignore that bit!) and a rash vest on top for a bit of warmth. And then also all in one neoprene type suits. Really nice and secure fits.
