Potty training - how?

Hi all,
My LO is 2y3m and is showing some signs of being ready for potty training (tells me when he's about to poo, can pull trousers & pull ups up and down, has done a couple of wees in the potty) how do I properly start the potty training process?
I've heard friends say wait until the summer so they can be outdoors / in less clothing but I have no actual idea what to do, do you get them to sit on the potty at certain times / intervals throughout the day?
Thanks for any advice!

We potty trained our child at about this age. We had the potty around for a few months and talked about it and invited him to use it. He used it a few times and we could see he was ready. We used the method described in the "Oh Crap" book. We spent a weekend inside with his clothes off with the potty there, watching for signs and putting him on the potty each time he started to go.

By the end of the process, we knew the signs and we stopped using nappies during the day. About six months later we stopped using them at night as well (but also putting him on when he stirs in the middle of the night). There were accidents in the beginning, of course, but now a year or so on he's pretty good. He uses the potty himself, he doesn't even have to tell us.

I've potty trained two children over Christmas. Don't wait for warm weather, it's really not needed. I really recommend the book Oh Crap! Potty training too. Simple, sensible advice. It seems daunting taking the nappies away but honestly I've been so pleased both times with how successful the children have been. I followed the advice in the book and it worked very well. I have a girl and a boy and my boy potty trained slightly earlier at 24 months. My dd was 2 years 3 months. My ds has been dry overnight for about a month now too. He is 2 years 5 months now (my dd was dry overnight around the same age).

I do the Intensive Toilet Training Protocol- Google it 😀

start putting on potty every 15 mins
Every success,.make a big fuss, and extend the time by 5 mins
Increasing time to 1 hour between visits.
I do pants from the start, I'm not interested in bare bums .
Don't wait for good weather, I'm not sure what people mean by that either to be honest!

I followed the book Gentle Potty Training by Sarah ockwell. Worked v well for us, would highly recommend (trained aged 23 months)

We started our 24 month old on friday. I'd say winter is actually the best time, because the UV makes being naked or just pants difficult!!

She refused bare bum, so has been pants all 3 days, but still means lots of suncream high up and exposed when on potty

Day 1 was brilliant after a few hours of multiple tiny pee accidents (not emptying bladder properly), 1 accident from 2-8pm! Took herself off every time in the afternoon. But 24 pees! 50% success. Day 2 - 12 pees, 75% success. Day 3 - 40% success, so hoping Day 4 we're back on form 🤞
