Hi!

Would it be odd to invite my managers granddaughter to my daughter’s bday party. They both the same age (4).

We do get on very well with the manager and always share things about the little ones and we always say how similar they are etc.

I don’t know if t would be odd or not?

Do the children know each other?

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 01/05/2025 18:10

It would be odd.

@TheOccupier no! I did mentioned it to my daughter and she likes the idea. Although I understand that she might not fully understand, for her it’s just the more the merrier 😆

You asked your four year old. ????
Anyway, ask the other child over for a brief playdate first and see how it works.

Depends on the kind of party. I think it sounds lovely.

ziggyy · 01/05/2025 18:22

@YellowHatt it will be at the soft play, so nothing too personal. Just for kids to sort of play around and have a good time. Her granddaughter it’s very sociable and on going so I assumed they would crack on. But maybe it’s just me thinking it’s a good idea 😅

Sounds odd to me because it’s not as simple as them just being a coworker - it’s your manager! Also odd because people often talk about their kids or grandkids to each other but just because you’re aware of their existence doesn’t mean it’s appropriate to invite them to family events. Unless of course you and the person are already good friends yourselves possibly. That’s just me though! Most kids get enough birthday invites in my experience from people they a
ready know - let alone from strangers!

Sounds like a lovely idea to me. I accepted an invitation to meet up outside of work with colleagues with similar age DC, and over 10 years later we're all very close friends.

mindutopia · 01/05/2025 19:31

Only if the children are friends and you know the parents and you all already socialise outside of work.

TheOccupier · 01/05/2025 20:56

Really weird if the kids don't know each other, sorry.

PeppermintPatty10 · 01/05/2025 21:01

I think it's a lovely idea!

Even if the girl can't come, your manager would appreciate the invitation.

I think it would be nice to invite her!
