DS constantly sent home from nursery

Every day for the past week my DS 12 months has been sent home from nursery. They keep claiming he has a fever, but he’s perfectly fine before he goes and when I collect him. Today I took a thermometer and his temp was 36.7 straight after getting in the car. They claimed it was 38.9?

How do I approach this with nursery? They claim he’s unsettled, but I think he is homesick as he hasn’t been going for long. They also wait until 12pm before putting him down for a nap, but at home he’ll have one at 10am so he’s exhausted! I’ve raised this before but it hasn’t changed.

How do I approach this with nursery? I don’t want to accuse them of lying but DS will never complete a day at this rate.

Not sure about the temperature thing. But you might want to try and adjust DS’ timings. They will prob want all children to go down around the same time and 10am is very early. I can imagine a tired baby getting cross and hot…

The nursery started off putting him down to nap at 10am but this has seemed to slip a lot in the last week or so. He is in the baby room where some babies are much younger than one, so I would be surprised if they were staying awake until 12pm without any nap.

OP, Has he just had an MMR?

My DS threw a series of very short fevers in the week after MMR. He could be 36.2 at 9am, 38.1 at 9.45 and back to 36 at noon. Apparently related to the Rubella element.

He’s twelve months. Most children will be on two naps at that age although some will be starting to transition to one.

Get them to check his temperature in front of you, then do it using your own thermometer and compare the two in case they aren't reading the same.

No he hasn’t had his jabs yet, they’re in June

Honestly it sounds like they are short staffed and sending him home to manage numbers.

I would ask them to check his temperature in front of you and query if the thermometer is working properly, if it comes back normal how they respond next i.e saying he still needs to go home would give you the answer as to whether this was a numbers issue.

@Spies this is what my DH thinks but I’ve been cynical so far
