Is it a developmentally appropriate activity to blow bubbles with a 15 month old?

Yes Confused

DappledThings · 27/04/2025 17:34

Please explain the context behind this question. There must be some. It's utterly bizarre without any. Blowing bubbles is an activity without any age limits.

Snorlaxo · 27/04/2025 17:35

Why would their be an age restriction ?

I’ve seen babies enjoy bubble machines and watching others blow bubbles

Are you OK?

WaffleParty · 27/04/2025 17:38

Are you the 15 month old?

UpUpUpU · 27/04/2025 17:41

Odd question.

I mean, I wouldn’t give the 15 month old the wand or liquid but if you blow bubbles for them, I imagine they’ll love it!

BunnyRuddington · 27/04/2025 18:12

We do it with the DDog and she has an IQ of roughly zero so I’m sure it will be fine with a 15 month old human child Grin

Lavender14 · 27/04/2025 18:17

You can blow bubbles with a child of any age. At that stage my ds would have struggled to actually successfully blow any bubbles himself but enjoyed seeing me create them and try to reach them.

MagpiePi · 27/04/2025 18:18

Do you do anything just for fun, or are all activities strictly vetted for developmental benefits ?

Lavender14 · 27/04/2025 18:18

You could also do it in line with certain nursery rhymes like I had a little turtle or one little red fish if you want to make it feel more interactive. Or sometimes I'd do it while ds is in the bath.

My dog loves it too!

And it normally attracts the attention of toddlers/young children who love to join in. It's cute to see kids interacting with my dog over a shared love of bubbles! 😍

At that age I think they liked trying to catch them rather than do the actual blowing

LIZS · 27/04/2025 19:02

I doubt they have the control to blow but would like watching and trying to pop

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 27/04/2025 19:03

Why wouldn't it be?

bluebunnyjacket · 27/04/2025 19:04

I mean I wouldn't let them drink the solution but yes of course. When an odd question.

1Ivebeenthinking · 27/04/2025 19:04

As long as you don’t let them get hold of the bubble mixture (they might try to taste or drink it) it’s fine

RobinHeartella · 27/04/2025 19:06

They can't aim at the wand when blowing yet (if that's what you're asking).

But of course everyone loves looking at bubbles, from newborn onwards

RobinHeartella · 27/04/2025 19:07

I think about 2.5-3y was when my dd could blow the actual bubbles. Younger if you use the kind of wand you can just shake

Glasgowgal200 · 27/04/2025 19:10

Used to work in baby rooms in nurseries and we blew bubbles with them. Just supervise them so don't attempt to swallow the solution. And be careful on uncarpeted flooring for slipping etc. Could get a bubble blowing machine might be safer

What ? 😂😂
