Stressing over baby toothpaste

So my 8 month old has recently gotten her first two teeth, with another one cutting through as I type. I googled and it said on the NHS website to use a smear of toothpaste for babys this young, which I did. All went well, but obviously I can't tell her to spit it out so she ended up swallowing most of it.

Did more research on it and I found that the HSE (I live in Ireland) says strictly no flouride until 2. But I originally got my info from the NHS website as it was the first one that popped up, and that said it's fine. So my countrys recommendation is no toothpaste at all.

Which one is right? Is Irelands advice of no toothpaste outdated? I hate conflicting advice, why can't they all get on the same page!! Stressing out over it now, what did you all do?

I'm in Scotland and we're advised to use toothpaste with at least 1000ppm fluoride from the first tooth.

Do you have fluoride added to your water? Don't know if that makes a difference as its not added to Scottish water

We do have flouride in our water, I wonder if that's why? It didn't give a particular reason why not to use it, besides just "flouride is bad for them."

Now I'm even more confused haha

I'm guessing it's the fluoride in the water that's prompting the different advice

Ah I appreciate you finding that link for me so much, thank you! Kind of worried about her swallowing now, but it says in the link that a little bit should be ok. Not going to use the toothpaste anymore and will keep a close eye on her just to be safe, thank you again!

She’ll be fine.
This is a non-event.
You don’t need a close eye due to the toothpaste. Just normal level supervision that you would each day, regardless………
