Breastfed baby starting solids

I’m looking for some experiences that might be similar to my current situation:

my 7 month old DS has been on solids for just over a month, he’s loving it so does actually consume food rather than just holding things or not being interested. He’s also breastfed.

he hasn’t had a poo in almost five days. I know that for breastfed babies this is normal but when on solids too I expected things to be coming back out again. He doesn’t seem constipated at all though, he’s not uncomfortable and he’s not trying and failing to go, he’s just not going.
i don’t know whether to be concerned or not, and now with the bank holiday weekend coming, he could potentially go 8 days before the GP is open again, but currently seems totally fine…

anyone experience this? Anyone know if it’s normal?

(he’s having fruits, vegetables, some meats, Greek yoghurt, porridge oats. He has some food in the morning and then at dinner he usually has more of a food teether like chicken bone, corn on the cob, mango pit - so isn’t consuming much there)

my DD got very constipated after starting solids but it was obvious as she kept trying to go, had very hard stools when she did, and ended up with a little tear down there too. This just seems different but I still expected BMs

I used these occasionally whilst weaning, had the same issue. I believe it's a natural remedy for trapped wind but always helped him poo quite quickly!

Try to BF him loads — it helps constipation, and make sure he’s drinking enough water. Soak prunes and blend and give him some of that. He might seem fine, but when they don’t go for such a long time it stretches the bowel and makes constipation more likely going forward. Bitter experience here with an almost 2 year old still experiencing constipation. It’s good to get ahead of it and try to get him to poo before it gets worse and more painful when he does finally go. I would certainly be going to the docs after 5 days or so. They may recommend lactulose which is very gentle.

Cut back on solids, give him pear and prunes and bf lots.

I’d drop one meal a day until he goes. It may be that his gut is a bit immature. The best thing for constipation will be BFing. Can you fit in an extra feed?

Prune purée, extra breastfeeding, and if the baby seems uncomfortable trying to go but can't - discuss Lactulose with the pharmacist (stool softener). Weaning constipation is quite common.
