When are they suitable from? Any point for a large and active 19 mo?

Ooh really, where? Want to get one for DD, hence knowing the link almost before you'd finished your post, but they are so much money.

DSIL had one for her daughter at about 2. Cost about £100 but she can now ride a proper bike at three and a half.

Got cheap but good one from lidl ages ago [smug], been in cupboard until ds big enough. Says from 3. He is 3 in Aug, tried him on it other day, he was V V proud, but his legs are a weeeee bit too short and don't quite reach the ground so he needs a steadying hand.
So the height/inside leg is more important that the age.

We got DS a proper bikr in mothercare when he was 2 - it has stabilisers and a pole to push it on the back and he has been riding it with no help for the last year - I have to run to keep up with him - I wouldn't bother to get one and would just go for a bike - it won't mean he/she can ride a bike wihout stabilisers so don't really see the point in them!

I like this one, mainly because of the flag!

EffiePerine · 16/05/2008 15:30

he is tall so feet touching ground not a prob.
Might stop him trying to pinch other people's!

that ebay one is one of the lidl ones which were going for £15 a couple of years ago ...

missblythe · 17/05/2008 14:40

Really?! What a massive swish!

cadelaide · 17/05/2008 14:43

isn't it fab though?

I'd pay the £50, just about.

Tesco seem quite cheap, a Little Tikes one for £30 - my parent's just bought one for DS second bday from there. It says 3+ but given DS is taller than the average three year old and physically pretty competent I think he will be fine.
