i really need advice, my DD will be one in a few weeks and she doesn’t eat, I have tried everything she screws her face up and pushes away everything I’ve tried everything from puree to normal food and the only thing she’ll eat is carrot puffs, yoghurts and baby wafers, she is supposed to be cutting out all her milk soon how big is still on bottles every 3 hours! My health visitor just said keep trying what can I do?

Hi @PinkdreamsI’m not sure I have the answers but wanted to come and offer sympathy and support! Firstly try not to worry as up until 1 they say the “food is for fun” so she is getting most of what she needs from milk and it’s not a firm cut off on her first birthday - so you have a little lee way.

My baby boy didn’t/doesn’t eat either. He’s now nearly 2. I still breastfeed him partly because he doesn’t eat. They can still get quite a lot from milk so definitely don’t cut that out (whether she is breast or bottle fed).

My DS only ate yoghurt and granola at that stage and the advice I was given by the health visitor was to just give him whatever he’ll eat so that could be yoghurt and granola 3 times a day.

is there anything at all she will eat?

DS is still very limited even at 2. He eats yoghurt, bread, cheese, apple and recently banana. He will also eat pizza so I make an (very easy) version that at least is salt/preservative free. Other than that it is just a bite of things here and there plus he will eat anything bad for him. So if he can get his hands on a crisp or biscuit he eats that no prob.

as I said I don’t have the answers but you’re not alone. I am considering seeing a child nutritionist soon.

Hopefully someone will come along with some answers!

This was me!! Baby snacks and mushy stuff was all I could get down til she was about 13 months. She soon caught up after starting nursery. We did have some investigations with the Gp but nothing came up.

reach out if you’re worried but please don’t stress about reducing milk, just go with your instincts and don’t listen to the ‘advice’ which is generalised and applies to the ‘average’ child not your child.
