pants, but take plenty of spares

if she is keen and on a roll, go with it IMO

TigerFeet · 15/05/2008 13:45

pants definitely

Do you have a portable potty? We had one, it was fab. We still used it long after she had got the hang of toilets, brilliant in an emergency

Enid · 15/05/2008 13:46

no I will get one though

I'll take her potty in the car

like this

A slightly more elegant pooper scooper.

DD used hers in the kitchen section in Ikea once!

misdee · 15/05/2008 13:48

pants.

and take a washable piddlepad or two for the car seat/buggy.

claireybee · 15/05/2008 13:51

Ooh let me know how you get on!

DD is doing really well as long as we are at home and the potty is within sight-otherwise she just forgets.

Have been wrestling her into a nappy for toddler groups etc (but using a pocket and putting it on like pants in the hope she'll think it is pants!)cos am too scared to brave it.

Didn't want to train her yet but the little madam is determined not to wear nappies

Enid · 15/05/2008 15:38

she was very good! told me she needed a wee so she did one in the boot of the car in the potty!

shame aboutt he poo on my bedroom floor though

lol

randomly posistioned poos... we never had that problem... but a friend of mine has a ds that used to poo in some really odd places and then run, so the poo had to be sniffed out [green]

chipmonkey · 15/05/2008 23:20

ds3 will have no truck with the potty at the moment due to the arrival of ds4!

PortAndLemon · 15/05/2008 23:22

A portable potty is a godsend. The forces of Mumsnet told me to get one when DS was potty training, and they were not wrong.

LyraSilvertongue · 15/05/2008 23:23

Portable potty, definitely. You just have to make sure you never stray too far from an alleyway where you can whip it out and plonk her on it before she wets herself.

lucykate · 15/05/2008 23:27

we've just done potty training with ds, he's in pants all the time, when we go out, i make him go before we leave and take the potty with me just in case. we're just starting to work on the transition from potty to loo, with some trepidation from ds since dh told him he'd fall down the loo thanks dh!

No pants or pullups (they still view them as a nappy). Take the potty under a pushchair or if you can't do that just squat her over a grid or verge/behind bush.
Take lots of spare clothes.
Cover the car seat/pushchair seat with a towel with a nappy folded in it so LO doesn't know its there.
Ask every 15-20mins at first if she needs a wee.
Ask her to try to wee before going out and reinforce telling you if she needs to go.

tori32 · 15/05/2008 23:49

sorry that should be pants not pullups. Use pants!

tortoiseSHELL · 15/05/2008 23:50
  • we are light years away from ANYTHING like this with ds2!
tori32 · 15/05/2008 23:52

Oh and take wipes and nappy sacks for getting rid of poo in the potty while out iyswim
