Teenage attacks (TW)

So I live in northern England for context but I won't say where as it may be outing or upsetting for people involved.

Just recently there seems to have been a worse wave of teenage attacks on other teenagers. I swear in the last month or so I've read about 4 separate incidents where groups of girls have targeted one girl and viciously attacked her. I saw a deeply upsetting post today on Facebook of a young girl being followed by 4 girls and attacked. They filmed the whole thing and shared online etc.

I can't stop thinking about it. I have primary school age children and I'm so worried about them as they get older. I can't shake this worry. Imagine being a teenager and being attacked and how Thsi could shape the rest of your teenage years and mental health.

What on earth is going on in the world?!

Does anyone else here worry about this? I can't switch off from it.

I understand where you are coming from. High schools are brutal. I just held my breath for my teenager until she left, relatively unscathed. I was bullied throughout my teens in the 80s, but it feels next level nowadays

Can only speak from my own and my kids experience... But... MOST kids at secondary school are just normal, OK kids.

We must remind ourselves of this. In this world of constant access to news, social media, forums etc it can be hard to steer our minds away from the drama and bad stuff going on. It's always there for us to look at.

I’ve seen very similar on social media lately, they seem to be popping up left right and centre. It’s horrible. Actually witnessed 3 teenage boys jump one smaller boy in a local shopping centre a few weeks ago, with one filming it. Thankfully lots of grown ups stepped in (including my husband much to my horror, you never know these days what they are carrying on them!) I felt sick for weeks afterwards. My youngest is now 14, so venturing places with his friends (though not far) but fills me with anxiety tbh.

yes there was fights when I was that age but it was always one on one,

the one I watched recently was two girls jumping on another girls head on concrete. The girls names were plastered all over several groups. And I’m in south wales, not even in the north. Social media has a lot to answer for imo
