Sleeping arrangements for toddler on holiday

Hi all,

We're going abroad with my 2.5 year old and 8 year old in the May half term. The toddler is still in a cot (with bars), and we are thinking soon of changing to a toddler bit as she's looking a bit squished and also thought it may help her sleep (wishful thinking). On holiday we're in a 2 bed apartment with twin beds, a double bed and a sofa bed. Should we keep her in her cot at home until after the holiday, then ask for a cot to be provided in our apartment? Or should we get her used to the toddler bed, then put her in a twin bed with some sort of inflatable travel sides?? Any other travel tips with a toddler greatly appreciated!

Could you move the mattress to the floor, then less likely to fall out or if you can hire a travel cot would they fit?
We have done both previously

You can get an inflatable bed rail from Amazon. They pack away easily for traveling.

We used to move the mattress to the floor, or if no space co slept

We take an inflatible toddler bed on holiday with us. They're like a normal inflatible bed, but with side bumpers. They usually pack up small. I've got a child of that age and I wouldn't trust him not to roll out of a real bed.

We also did mattress on the floor. I wouldn’t necessarily count on a decent cot on holiday and it might make it harder rather than easier. Quite often they are travel cots, which I never found mine slept well in.

If it was our family, we bring our bolster and put it on one side of the biggest bed . I would sleep on the other side. Toddler in the middle.

Thanks all...mattress on the floor and inflatable rails or toddler bed a good idea....when you used them were your toddlers already out of their cots at home? I'm wondering if we make the transition before holiday if she would find it easier to adjust when we're away. Her sleep has been awful from day one, so I'm nervous about changing things.
