Good free apps for infant age?

Please start your own thread if you want to talk about how no child should be on a tablet etc. Otherwise, please read on!

DS6 would like to start having some tablet time, so I've said he can have 20 mins at a weekend. He hasn't used it for ages, previously he used to do CBeebies colouring and Pango, but our Amazon kids subscription has run out now so we can't have Pango any more.

Any suggestions for any free apps that are good for this age? I've seen suggestions for Reading Eggs, teach your monster to read etc but they're all paid for. Is there anything that's free and good? Can either be educational or just a fun game, and needs to work on a kindle fire please!

Just steer clear of youtube kids- people manage to upload things onto there and bypass the restrictions by giving it a cartoon thumbnail. If you want him to have things available to watch, stick to a subscription service you already have (netflix or disney plus for example), or get the iPlayer Kids app

Thanks, I had seen that mentioned so wouldn't let him on there unsupervised. He can watch iPlayer/Netflix kids stuff on the main TV which I prefer as I can see what he's up to more easily, so this is literally just adding some extra time to play games which he's mentioned his friends get to do. Normally it only comes out for long car or train journeys.

My child (7) has been enjoying a mental math game recently — you get four numbers and try to make 10 using +, −, ×, ÷.
It’s called “Make 10” and it’s free on iOS/Android.
I’m not sure if it’s on Amazon Appstore for Kindle Fire, but if you have access to Google Play on the device it should work.
It’s short, puzzle-like, and works well for quick 5–10 minute sessions.

If you seach for TinyHands it will bring up loads of educational fun apps, my kids learnt a lot from them. Very easy for them to use too
