18 month of cries when I do the dishes or any housework!

My son’s nearly 18 months and since last week he absolutely screams the house down, inconsolable! When I do the dishes, wipe the sides, try to put clothes away, make him dinner/tea. He clings to my leg and he’s getting so upset.

I’ve tried putting him in his high chair with food/toys, doesn’t work. I’ve put his favourite film on, doesn’t work. The only way he stops crying is when I pick
him up.

had to get my dad round everyday last week so I could wash the dishes as they was piling up and he was too upset.

I feel awful but this morning I had all of breakfast to tidy away after the school run and he was clinging to my leg screaming, I just got on with it and let him cry now feel awful!

I’ve tried singing, talking to him whilst I’m doing it and absolutely nothing is working with him unless I hold him. He’s a big lad as well for his age so I can’t hold him for long and get things done at the same time!

is it bad to let him cry it out? Will he grow out of this? Didn’t have this with my first 😩

Get him his own bowl to do some washing up (a few plastic bits and lots of bubbles) at the same time.
Oh and he can "help" with dusting - ie wave a duster around as you clean.

Get a learning tower for the kitchen, one of the best things we ever bought.

Another vote for the kitchen tower. It's been a life saver!
Get one that you can adjust as they get taller. We've got one with a chalkboard on it so when he gets board of watching us, and 'helping', he draws

Yes he will grow out of it.

Agree with getting him to 'help'. Tell him you are both washing up. Give him a bowl of soapy water with a towel underneath, and some plastic bowls or plates to wash.

When cleaning, give him a dry cloth to dust and polish. Etc.
