you can get harringtons at tony's textiles ebay shop cgi.ebay.co.uk/HARRINGTONS-TERRY-TOWELLING-NAPPIES_W0QQitemZ110250762599QQihZ001QQcategoryZ26269QQss PageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

quite cheap I think, a good terry square is at least £2

cheesesarnie · 13/05/2008 11:03

i have lots here if youd like them ffp.just the terries though no wraps and maybe a couple of nippas.i think theyre all juniour joy, mothercare and little ewe.

BigBadMouse · 13/05/2008 12:24
  • is it my imagination or do you keep changing back to your former ID??

Misdee - Best quality nappies IMO are Little Ewe, Harringtons and Babeco. Only seen Harringtons on eBay as Liz79 linked to. Little Ewe are available from the nappy lady and Babeco from several places (prob best to google. These are the thicker, softer nappies which hold their shpe better.

If you just want something for a newborn / young baby you might be better of with something a bit thinner like Mothercare's Own, Junior Joy, Lollipop etc. They don't hold their shape so well (which makes folding more difficult) IME but if you are only going to use them for a while that might not matter.

Don't forget you can use muslin cloths in the same way for the first few weeks if you want to. I got some very cheap on eBay last week.

Rikki Wraps work well with terries IME -get a tightish cut wrap to help hold the fold in shape. Airflows are usually my favourite but I find them too baggy for terry squares)

noooo.why?
was thinking about you other day.ds2 had to go to hospital near you to see kernow doc.then few days later we went to beach-first time id been there sober(shhh i sound like bad mummy!hadnt been there since before children).im not stalking you though tee hee!

BigBadMouse · 13/05/2008 15:26

Oh, I must have seen an old post of yours then. I'm def going mad!

Hope DS2 was OK - kernow doc is a pretty regular haunt for DD2 (who seems to be training for the SAS) quite far for you though! Just 5 mins for us.

Beaches here are lovely - not risking it this year with 3 though. It was tough last year on my own with 2 as DD2 seems to have no fear of anything - even deep water, big waves and speedboats.

I am stalking you though - coz I read you have a new car...space for more children in that one methinks

Indith · 13/05/2008 15:39

Wouldn't go for Little Ewe personally as the bindings are really thick. Good for later though as very absorbent. Go for some bamboo ones from Twinkle on the Web or some funky Bright Bots.

cheesesarnie · 14/05/2008 10:12

bigbadmouse-have you had baby?????!!!ds2 ok now-he wasnt weeing!he likes kernow doc and hospital too,im sure they know him well now!
yes we got new car!!!i can breath out now while travelling!only 5 seats so unless i learn to drive and kick dh out not enough room for another(can i put one in the oh so big boot-would that be bad?!).do you have msn?

misdee sorry for hijacking!!

BigBadMouse · 14/05/2008 15:57

yep sillious_soddus at hotmail dot co dot uk

he isn't here yet - a few problems after things started up last week they think. He has gone back to back and now completely unengaged most of the time - I guess he got lost trying to find his way out. I was quite happy to keep him there for as long as poss until I found out he has the cord wrapped round his neck. Never mind, could be a lot worse. Get a roof rack

thenappylady.co.uk is a really good website which will give you personalised advice for free. They sell loads of different sorts of nappies including terry squares. I love Bumbles nappies, but used muslins in the first few weeks.

cheesesarnie · 14/05/2008 21:18

bbm-oh no!so what happens now?i'll add you on msn and we can chatter!

thisisyesterday · 14/05/2008 21:23

we used muslin squares to start with and then m'care and boots terries.
with airflow wraps.

actually, the nappy nation wraps are really nice because they're slightly stretchy so good for terries and stuff

NumptyMum · 14/05/2008 21:24

Just a thought re wraps, popper wraps may be better for older child. My DS is 8.5 months, we use reusables (Bumbles and Motherease airflo wraps) plus eco disposables for overnight. He's VERY quick to undo the disposable, likes the sound of fastening coming undone (and looks picture of concentration when doing it, LOL). Have to whisk him into babygro/vest to stop him getting at his nappy. Thank goodness the poppers on ME wrap have him foxed at the mo!

BigBadMouse · 15/05/2008 20:03

cheesesarnie - will await chatter .

Numptymum - I think you make a good point about poppers with older children. I tried popper nappies when DD2 was young and didn't like them but now that is all I use. I find them a lot more secure when she moves too.

cheesesarnie · 15/05/2008 20:55

i added you ,maybe i did it wrong?

i agree about poppers-they became a necessity!

BigBadMouse · 15/05/2008 21:42

Cheesesarnie - nope can't see anything to show you have added me. Do you want me to try to add you instead?
