Do I raise this with the preschool?

Recently DS3 has been very difficult to persuade to to go to preschool. He’s been very clingy and wanting to stay home with me. He’s been going since he was 1 and normally loves it. He’s speech delayed so it’s difficult to work out what’s going on sometimes but he’s told me every day this week that another little boy punched him in his back and that he was sad and didn’t want to go to school. I think he’s referring to the same incident but it clearly made enough of an impact to keep upsetting him. What should I say to the preschool? Can I ask that they keep an eye and make sure it’s not targeted?

Yes, I would definitely have a word with them and say what you've said here.

Yes, tell them!

I woulf have also told them when I first didn’t want to start going in case they could connect it with something they knew had happened. My then 2 yr old went through a phase of not wanting to go and when I spoke to the staff, they said oh her friends are older and have moved up to the next room, do you want her to move into that room too? And the problem was solved over night.

Yes. You need to tell the preschool staff what your child has told you. He needs you to be his voice.

Of course you should talk to them.

Thank you. Sometimes I worry I’m overthinking but you are right. I’ll speak to them today.
