trying not to be a cotton wool parent. can anyone hold my hand for a little bit please

dd1+2 are palying out the front. dd1 is 8, dd2 is 5. on their bikes and scooters. they are popping in and out all the time for drinks, and generally they are ok. dd1 keeps leaving dd2 with her friends in the next cul de sac (i can hear them from the back garden, its two doors down) and i keep senidng her back. no roads to cross.

had a mini-panic earlier as dd1 ran back in as dd2 was bleeding and wouldnt come and get a plaster as 'everytime she moves her knee more blood comes out' i was bathing the guinea pigs at the time, so dh went to patch her up. she was fine and is still playing.

i know this is good for them, being outside playing, and they are on a quiet road, and with loads of other kids, so why am i so nervous?

because you love them and fear for what might go wrong!! Am an anxious mum myself, DH keeps telling me to stop fretting but find it hard!

It feels uncomfortable because if you listened to many other parents you'd be keeping them in until they're 15 and 18. ;)

But you're doing the right thing and the fact that your elder daughter came in to tell you about the little one shows this: they know what to do in an emergency.

so pat yourself on the back!
