Birthday party ideas for my quiet girl

Hoping someone can help me with ideas on what to arrange for my daughters 6th birthday party. We suspect she has ADHD and her social skills aren’t the best, she has a small group of friends (3/4) and is totally overwhelmed by the big class parties.

First time we’re doing a birthday party which she really wants…just wondering had any lovely ideas. We live quiet rural so there are not a massive amount of amenities near by and most places I’ve looked in to like trampoline parks and soft plays want a minimum of 10 children

Pay for entry to a petting farm or similar and bring a cake with you?

A crafting party? Sometimes local craft shops etc might have people willing to do this.

Or I suggest buying a big potion making kit with fizzy salts etc, and having a potion making party of whatever theme (rainbow, fairy, dragon) followed by cake. Even baking with them if you can face it!

Trip to an ice cream parlour?

Pony party at local stables?

My DD did that with 3 friends once. They went for a short hack/walk with someone holding onto the head collar of each pony. Think they did some mucking out and feed buckets. They all loved it!

edited to add link

something creatieve to start with and something active to end with. I think at my DS (ASD/ADHD) 6y birthday we decoraterd wooden birdhouses and did a scavenger hunt afterwards.

this is my go to online shop for creative birthday party projects. I’m from the Netherlands but I believe this website is for the UK. Anyway have a browse with your DD. Enjoy!

Pottery painting place?

When DD was that age it was just coming out of lockdown so she could only have limited people. I got some jewellery making kits online and did that with them for about 45 mins, then we did party food, a sweetie treasure hunt in the garden and cake. It worked really well and wasn’t too full on!

Order a kit of huggy bears basically build a bear that you can do at home. Make sure you get the bears white vests and fabric pens. Their going home present is the bear. Ours loved that at that age.

Cookie decorating - did this for DS’ 3rd which was obviously on the young side but everyone loved it! I’m a baker so did sugar cookies, lots of different royal icing, sprinkles etc. but you could do digestives and icing, digestives and pre-made icing, digestives and buttercream, buy a load of those kits from the supermarket etc

Decorate those cardboard initials you can get from craft shops…. Decoupage etc?

Get a load of baker Ross kits??

I'd also have it at home and either do some crafts yourself or get someone to come to you. You can hire princesses or superheroes to make an appearance where we live. My dd went to one of those parties at about that age and loved it

What are her favourite days out? Dont book places as a party just pay entry for however many children are coming. Pay for the food/ drinks for the children or you could take party boxes with pre made food. Take a balloon and cake (if soft play etc ask if you can do this first but the soft plays near me allow this, they sell balloons there).

What's she like with the cinema?

My Daughter is like this. She wants a party at home. What I did last year was have 4/5 friends over. We have a little bouncy castle, so we set that up in the garden.

Then we played pass the parcel, pin the horn on the unicorn etc. Fed them a little buffet and then I had purchased some craft bits from Home Bargains so they could make some things. Also got out some colouring books, stickers etc.

InfoSecInTheCity · 25/02/2025 20:19

Party at home would be lovely, especially if it's a time of year when you can use the garden, DDs 7th bday was just after we started being allowed to have garden meetups during lockdown, we did burgers and hotdogs (in the oven, wasn't up for managing open flames around kids that aren't mine), an ice cream sundae bar with as many toppings as we could think of, a piñata hung from the tree, bought some really bright coloured chalks and chalk bombs and let them have free reign of the patio and fence panels, played music and bought some of the big garden games like snakes and ladders and Jenga.

We had a jewellery making party at home at a similar age. What my dd wanted but yours might also enjoy
A lady came with all the stuff and they sat and enjoyed making a bead bracelet etc

Happymumma87 · 25/02/2025 20:27

I should add we have a tiny terrace and a court yard garden so a party at home wouldn’t work
