Stay at Home Mom...Phew

I have 2 DC and I'm 21 weeks pregnant.

Unfortunately I was made redundant from my job at the end of March.

I was relishing the opportunity to spend time with the kids without the financial worry (redundancy) as I've always worked.

Well fcuk me, how hard is it?

This is without doubt the hardest job I have ever, ever done, I have never been so tired.

School run's, playgroups, parks, shopping, cooking, cleaning, entertaining, juggling, negoitiating, ironing, bed making, hoovering, feeding, refereeing etc, etc, etc.

Please do not misunderstand, I have no intention of returning to work anytime soon and love seeing my boys but crikey, I had no idea being a SAHM was this tasking, I totally understand now the debat of, '...if women were paid for the individual caring tasks they perform...'.

Working in an office was a piece of piss!

Did you pay someone else to do all the cleaning, shopping, cooking etc when you worked then?

I would bet there is quite a bit more cleaning, cooking and shopping to do as a sahm

if your dc are in childcare you don't normally have to prepare their food, and if they are at nursery your house remains mysteriously clean and tidy while you are all out

Maybe. I am a SAHM now, was a FT WOHM before and remember doing a fair amount of housework. Bedmaking certainly...

god don't get me wrong, I don't envy FT WOHMs
however I do think you get much less housework drudgery in total - however obviously lots less time to do stuff around the house in the first place

TheFallenMadonna, no I didn't pay anyone to do it but I guess:

• The house was empty several hours a day so stayed tidier for longer
• Domestic chores and childcare was divided by working days.
• Now at home I guess you get the chance to 'stare' all the stuff that needs doing in 'the face'.
