Solo motorway trip with 7 month old who hates the car

Any tips please? Only a 90 minute journey but she screams blue murder even on short trips. Goes completely red in the face, foams at the mouth, seems to not be able to catch her breath - it's so distressing & upsets my 2yr old as well. I've tried all the obvious solutions such as making sure she's fed, dry, comfortable, not too tired, adjusted the car seat, given toys. I'm already stressed at the thought of her kicking off on the motorway. She calms down immediately when taken out of the seat. Any advice welcome!

Find a non-motorway route. Or if the person(s) you are visiting could come to you, do that, even if you have to pay the costs.

Sorry but given how many unfit motorists there are on the road, especially motorways, you need to be able to concentrate.

My little one was like this too, have you tried music/theme songs from things she's familiar with?

I made my girl a CD and it really helped...random things like the Eastenders theme tune 😂 and Peppa Pig song etc. Also some Cocomelon nursery rhymes that she's familiar with from groups, like Wind the Bobbin Up. As she's grown older we've graduated to a Justin Fletcher CD because she loves Mr Tumble and it keeps her happy most of the time.

Worth a try

Do you have a mirror so she can see you? That works for some.

Otherwise, I'd second the suggestion to see if whomever it is can possible come to you, or consider public transport. DD2 was horrific in the car as a baby (reflux in her case, so entirely justified!), and we got very used to going on the bus and train. Both children still prefer train over car when possible, they can do much more, move around, etc.

Thanks all, will try some of your suggestions.
