Yikes, how warm does my newborn need to be dressed in this warm weather?

Hi,
Slightly concerned about this heat and dressing baby too warm...
She sleeps in the bed with us. Was born 11 days late via c-section. Healthy and happy. 1 week old today.
The house is rather warm and its not cooling down much yet.
Do I dress her in te baby grow and vest and put the baby blanket (1 layer) rather than duvet? or is that too hot?
Any tips?

No duvet!

A vest and a babygrow should be fine, cover her with a baby blanket if you think she's getting cold. If she's in your bed it will be quite warm anyway. Feel her tummy, if it's hot then she's hot.

I used to work in a pharmacy during a heatwave a few years ago, the amount of people that wrapped little babies up in coats, hats and blankets was shocking. Her hands and feet will be cold anyway, the best way to check if she's hot or cold is to feel her tummy. She may still need socks. Layers are good as they are easy to change. Duvets are not recommended as she could over heat very easily and they are thick.

a vest and a cotton sheet should be fine

Check the back of her neck to see how warm she is

one more layer than you is the general rule of thumb.

I had a may baby and i just dressed him in a vest at night and rompers in the day with the odd little shorts set.My midwife came over one hot day and i had ds in a vest and babygro like Avenanap said my midife told me to check his tummy for temperature as he was too hot.

dd was born in scorching Aug last year and wore a sleepsuit with nothing under, plus 1 blanket at night. Anything more and she sweated and came out in a heat rash.

Best to start with less then add more layers if you think he's cold rather than let him overheat.

The best guide I was given was their tummy or back of their neck should be the same temperature as your cleavage...
