Just wondering if anyone has kids with pet allergies? Or if you can be sick due to pet allergies? And if there's a way to test for this kind of allergy in 4 year old.

thank you

Of course children can have allergies.

I was tested aged 5 for a whole host of allergens. GP did it, though it's probably a specialised dept now.

They put 12 allergens on my arms and did a pinprick test to see which ones reacted. I have never been able to stroke a cat or hold a small animal like a rabbit since!

yes my DD kept getting chest infections and it turned out she was allergic to dust and grass which is now managed with an inhaler, antihistamines and a nasal spray. We pushed with the GP to get her referred, in the end we used a private doctor through my husband's work who pushed the referral through our GP and then we got an appointment at the hospital for allergy testing. The first one was a blood test, but then when she saw the asthma consultant she referred for skin prick testing. Thankfully she's not allergic to animals, but my husband is allergic to cats and it results in chest infections if he doesn't keep on top of antihistamines

Skin prick tests can be done, we had to go private fornour child though. Years ago I had them on the NHS. Turns out I am allergic and she is not, she just has a lot of colds.

Oh really thank you for this good to know 🙏🏿 trying to rule out if our 4 year old is allergic to dogs. The only thing is he is actually sick which is why I never considered it being because of an allergic reaction but I'm now thinking it is.

Thank you i will have a look for private testing too. He does have a lot of colds but he is sick too which is why I never thought of it being an allergy until now.

I've never heard of sickness being allergy related? Mine is all skin and breathing issues.

I'm sure it's possible though?
