does it matter if a nappy bucket has a charcoal filter on it or not? where do you get them, if they are useful? and what does everyone find is the best thing to put inside e.g. tea tree oil, napisan etc..

A what ....?

I know they dirty nappies smell a bit toxic.... but seriously ...a bit OTT if you ask me.

I use a plastic box with a lid from IKEA. Cost pennies and does the job perfectly well. Sprinkle a bit of lavender oil on a tissue sellotaped to the inside of the lid every now and then if I ever remember

Charcoal filter Nahhhh, no point IME.

I occassionally hang an offcut of fleece (from when I made liners) with a few drops of essential oil over the edge of my nappy bucket then put the lid on top but usually I just bung the lid on and thats it.

Be careful with oils - they can degrade PUL very effecively so don't put it in contact with your nappies / wraps in the bucket. I don't like napisan or soaking in general - too messy and not neccessary.

No filter, no soaking, no essential oil unless I am feeling v efficient when washing the bucket out.

TBH, they don't smell that bad until the baby is weaned, and then the poo load is less and sticks to the liner anyway.

We have a nappy bucket, but the guest one is just a plastic box with a click on lid - which works very well.

Anything with a tight fitting lid will do the trick..no filters, soaking, essential oils required!
