One Life Nappies Experiences

Someone at work is selling a set of "birth to potty" One Life nappies.

I am 21 weeks pg with first baby and have always been keen on the idea of reusable nappies, so I am thinking of buying them.

Should I ? What are people's experiences of them? Should I wait for baby to be born before I think about which nappies to get? Do different brands work better for boys and girls?

Thanks

Out of all the nappies I have tried, the onelife onesize (and similar looking motherease onesize) are the most versatile for all baby shapes/sizes. I have used them on both my DCs - literally from birth to potty training with DC1 and still using them on DC2. I do use a mix of other nappies too, but when DC1 was born I bought a set of onelife and stuck with those for a while. I then bought him some more absorbent ones for night time when he started sleeping through.

Had 2 children in nappies for a year so had to expand my collection. When DC2 came I bought quite a few different types of nappy (had got a bit braver by then!) and now I find that different nappies suit different situations. I wouldn't use a onelife overnight now as both mine weed too much for that, but it does compare favourably with many other 'shaped' nappies in terms of absorbency. Also a major advantage is that you don't have to buy more nappies as your baby gets bigger, only extra wraps. If I had had DC1 out of nappies before DC2 arrived I would have been happy to use just the onelife on DC2.

I did borrow a couple of nappies from a friend to try before buying them so didn't buy before trying, but they have been grat on both my children who are very different in shape.

Hi - yes I've used these and Motherease equivalent with a snap-in booster and they are brilliant. My baby is nearly 5 months and a heavy wetter and they see him through the night. Haven't tried on a newborn, I would imagine them to be quite bulky but not as bad as terry squares which is what I used on my child when newborn! Would go for it!

Oh goodness! I personally would avoid them like the plague! They are marginally better than the almost identical Motherease Onesize (MEOS) but I found them to be an awful fit and they took a long time to dry considering they were not very absorbant. I was boosting mine with a microfibre cloth and the snap in booster and my DD was only 7 months at the time - they lasted about 3 hours with all that boosting.

I would only buy them if you were being offered them at a very good price so that you can sell them on if they don't suit.

Onelife and Motherease were very popular several years ago but the market has changed a lot and there are far better nappies out there now. The Onelife wraps are good though so if they have any of those grab them

There are no particular brands that work better for boys or girls. If you are thinking of using cloth nappies find out if you have a local nappy project that offers a trial kit service which you can use when your baby arrives - this would allow you to try all sorts and see what suits you and your baby best. If there is no trial kit service then you can get some good one to one advice online.

I would say that waiting for your baby to be born might be a good idea, if your baby turns out to be long and thin then certain nappies will suit you far better than if he or she was more chubby.

I love the One-life nappies with a wrap, i use these and Motherease BTP with a Motherease wrap.

They are good nappies which are slim fitting, absorbant (my son is a heavy wetter and we change every 3-4 hours) and easy to use. I have tried other nappies and have always gone back to these!

My everyday nappies (ie that DS wears to nursery) are Onelife and MEOS. I think that although they aren't the most advanced nappy in the world, they work well, go on and on, have a good resale value, and are easy to use.

If they are asking a reasonable price, I'd def buy them as they'll give you a good starting point for using cloth, and if you don't like them, you can sell them on again.

The wraps are much the same as the Airflow I think - but we've only had one size 2 and a size 4 wrap.
