Holiday essentials for 4m old

We are taking our newborn old to Spain before summer when she'll be 4m old - what do we need? It will be in the low 20s for most of the day. I am unsure how flying works with expressed breast milk and how to dress her for the pool and/or sea? Any hints, tips and recommendations wanted! TIA

You can take expressed milk (they'll test it). You can get an SPF swimsuit with full arms and legs and a hat with neck protection, made out of swim material so will dry quickly. If you envisage this being what she wears most of the time take two or laundry detergent (for leaking poos). No suncream at that age. Honestly you don't need anything different to in the UK. Is this your first? You'll know what you need for the different stage when you get there. A 4mo and a newborn are different (they grow too fast!). Have fun. Decide if you're taking a travel cot / car seat or hiring.

@PurBal thank you very much! I wasn't sure if those suits would make her too hot or not. We haven't booked accom yet but I'm assuming it won't be heated pools. Yes first baby and it'll be their first holiday so I'm really feeling in the deep end about things but everyone says it's great when they are young 🤷‍♀️. We are looking at places that provide a travel cot, which I'm hoping would be fine. Didn't think of car seat but was thinking on a travel pram that will lower to almost flat.

An excellent age for a holiday! You’ll be able to enjoy yourselves without baby being mobile / too demanding!
agree, breast milk no issue they just need to test it.
If your pool isn’t heated, I wouldn’t worry about a splash suit - it will likely be too cold to spend too much time in for small people. We did similar age holiday to Spain and just paddled / put feet in water for baby.
If low 20s, I’d just go with a good hat with a wide brim or cap with the neck guard thing and make sure arms and legs are covered with thin cotton romper etc.
Airbnb is great for providing kids equipment if you’ve not got accomodation sorted.
Car seat hire can get quite £££ we found but airlines usually allow a set number of hold items for baby so we would take ours with us when travelling plus a travel pram.

Have so much fun!!

@Reddy01 ah I see about the heat. Because they can't wear suncream at that age I'd rather put them in that than in just a nappy because of indirect sun.

You’ll have a brilliant time.

Cotton clothes as much as possible, and a few large muslins (good for chilly evenings and dusting off sand!)

If you’re hiring a car take your own car seat. If not, then request a car seat when you book a taxi - call and reconfirm it has the car seat before you travel.

I recommend a wide brim floppy cotton hat and/or a sun shade - it’s hard to keep sun entirely off a pram and you aren’t supposed to have the pram covered. Remember strength of sun is greatest when sun is high in the sky, so try and keep in shade at those times even if it’s not that hot.

You might want to take your own sheet for the travel cot - it will smell like home.

A good alternative for baby to have a splash is to buy a cheap blow up boat or pool, just a small one, then put some pool water in and let it warm up in the sun but when baby has a splash put a parasol over it.

Pop up sun shade and a small blow up pool you'll be able to buy them there though.

Ooh I never thought of a blow up swim thing! Thank you! I'll have a look for hats and more cotton things, probably nearer the time so I know what size. I didn't realise you would need a car seat for a taxi as I think in the UK it is not necessary in a taxi (although obviously safer).
