12 week old - Nappies leaking through night

I have a 12 week old and currently managing to get him to sleep through the night.
I give him his last feed and nappy change at 10pm and he wakes up around 6/7am.
But when i pick him up i realise he has leaked through nappy, it's usually up his back more.
He is currently using pampers size 2 but any tips on how i can stop this happening? Or other nappy recommendations? I know the mamia ones can be good.

Size up to size 3 for the night, the bigger the Nappy the more liquid they hold. It will be big on them but it's only for the night.

Congratulations on the baby and a sleeping one! X

I have reusable nappies for night time (little lamb currently but I'm not sure if they would fit as my lo is younger) but I find them much better for containing things. Otherwise I heard sizing up a nappy at night if you're leaving them to sleep the full night might work.

Go next size up. Also have you tried the Aldi ones, they're amazing

Yep! Nothing beats reusables. Especially hemp nappies. We cloth our daughter full time :)

Agree with reusables but stopped due to PND. Now I use disposables with a nappy wrap: game changer.

Another vote for next size up and make sure frills are pulled out!
We tried every nappy - Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Tesco, Boots, Asda etc.. only one that do not consistently leak are Pampers (even with frills out!) and even then, we get the occasional leak! We just have a wriggly baby, so not sure if that has anything to do with it, but since making sure that the frills are untucked, we've been all good!

@TheBirdintheCave when did you start using reusable full time? I would like to do that but she still goes through about 12 nappies a day at 5 weeks. We don't have as many reusable but do you find you need to change them less? Do you have any tricks for cleaning them as I tend to wetbag them then do a bathtub clean then into the wash? I once did a washing machine rinse first but didn't find that it took out all the poo stains by the end of the proper wash

Size up, frills out, make sure the vest is loose enough to allow the nappy to expand.

We've done full time reusable from birth with both children :) We had twenty five Motherease Sandies nappies in the newborn size* and four wraps (as no need to change the wrap every time) and, though I have no direct comparison, it did seem like we were changing less than friends using disposables as they were going by the colour changing line and I went by the clock (unless a poop happened).

Re washing: We do a 40 degree pre-wash in the machine with a half scoop of powder and a scoop of stain remover for 20 minutes then a full wash with a full scoop of powder on 60 degrees for three hours. This gets the nappies clean and white :)

*We currently have 20 in a larger size for my 9 month old daughter.

TheBirdintheCave · 17/02/2025 13:20

The pre-wash setting I use is the 'quick wash' button on my machine which basically does a full mini cycle rather than just a rinse :)

ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 17/02/2025 13:23

U could put two nappies on. The 2nd one a size bigger but make sure the baby grow isnt tight and has enough space to expand

Also make sure his willy is pointing down and not up when you put the nappy on

FirstTimeMum881 · 17/02/2025 16:27

We use Huggies overnites diapers.
