Flexible working pattern

Has anyone had any experience of a flexible working pattern request?

I'm already part time (3xfull days) but I want to spread my work over 5 days so I can do the school run

This doesn't happen until September though and my policy at work says I need to give 2 months

Do I submit now with plenty of time or wait to nearer the time?

I have the Acas template

My new hours mean I shall be doing 3 more extra hours so hoping it will be an advantage to them as much as it is to me

Where I work it's all to do with bums on seats, figures and strict when people can be off etc

I am also quite prepared that if it's a no I will need to leave for a more flexible role
Not that I want to say that!
There are plenty out there I've seen but I do like what I do and I thought I'd ask first before thinking about leaving

I did a request after I returned from maternity leave. I had gone to a fit note so I don't think it was a surprise as I was working reduced hours because of that. I had stipulate my request. Mine included reduced hours and set WFH days as part of a reasonable adjustment. I had to fill out a section about what the impact would be for the team. I applied and got it approved quickly and it started a month later from the January. I agreed with my line manager that I would take annual leave to work those hours in the couple of weeks before Christmas.
At my company we are only allowed to make requests once in 12 months.
I would possibly put feelers out to find out how likely the request is to be accepted and go from there. Is there anyone else at the company you could speak to in order to see what their experiences were?

I also went from 3 days to 5 days (shorter days for school run) but worked out being more hours overall. My company were fine with it as they’d prefer me there 5 days but like PP, could only change my hours once in 12 months.

I submitted quite early incase they rejected it so I could look at my options.
