Family court

Good afternoon,

I am new here and unsure if this has been discussed before but I am looking for some advice around family court.

I have been involved with the family courts for around three years as my daughters father is wanting visiting rights. Without putting too much information it has been going on for a long time and my child has no relationship with him as he was absent from birth until 2.5 and then around until she was around 5 when I stopped contact due to some concerns.

He took me to court for access and he got it starting in a contact center which my daughter did not take to. To cut a long story short more recently after he left contact for over a year he has taken me back to court and accused me of alienation.

I have always represented myself but after feeling very let down and feeling that my daughter is not listened to I feel I may need to get a solicitor.

My question is has anybody else been in this situation? and represented themselves and then used a solicitor? is it worth it? it is a lot of money and I need some advice on whether this is going to help my daughter or if I should just keep representing myself?

TIA

Have you contacted citizens advice bureau? My understand is they offer 30 min with a solicitor free of charge and then you have a better idea.

I have spoken to a solicitor for half a hour and she would like to represent me. They are the experts in the law etc. but I was curious if anyone would recommend one after previously representing themselves? The pros and cons?

Thank you for your reply
