Why? Who are you?

newmamax · 10/02/2025 17:53

Hello, what do you mean who am I?
I’m a parent trying to help other parents. I’m not asking for anyone’s personal details.

That’s a rather prickly response. Asking parents what they struggle with is a personal thing. People will want to know what you’re planning on doing with that before answering and if you’re planning on offering advice in a blog or similiar then they will want to know you’re suitably qualified to do so.

Because of the phrasing of the post and looking for suggestions. It sounds like you're looking for information for market research or something but not being transparent about it.

As for PP, it's not prickly. I literally want to know why the OP posted.

Apologies @Organisedwannabe

I see that you mean the OP was being prickly. Yes, I agree. The post is odd to me.

newmamax · 10/02/2025 18:33

Right.. I think it really depends how you take it. It was a generic question. I wasn’t asking anyone for specific details. With that being said there are a lot of posts on this platform with parents asking for advice with all details included. If it’s too personal for some I assume they just won’t post.

Sorry I meant the OP’s reply to you was prickly, especially considering they’re asking you to do some thing for them.

But you're not asking for advice. You're asking for suggestions of what people might want advice on.

Why?

Youcanttakeanelephantonthebus · 10/02/2025 19:17

My biggest struggle is vague mumsnet posts.

newmamax · 10/02/2025 21:21

hi, for the same reason people seek advice. I’m just trying to help and do something good but it’s been perceived in the wrong way. I didn’t intend to come across as ‘ prickly’ or anything of the sort. I’ve obviously hit the wrong target audience on here and that’s okay. All the best x

@newmamax I have a few things that I could do with advice on. Actually loads!

Are you a behaviour specialist? Teacher? Experience with sleep etc? What is your back ground?

Hi, thank you for responding.

I have over 7+ years of Child and Adult Safeguarding.
GDC Registered nurse.
Currently undergoing a course which covers child development.
As a parent myself, some of my knowledge comes from what has and hasn’t worked for us x

The idea is to combine knowledge with a team including nursery staff and social workers.

summerlovingvibes · 10/02/2025 21:43

Ah right.
You probably should have led with that info and put a different title and people would likely be less suspicious!

What idea? What team? I still have no idea what you are aiming to do with this thread.

Wolfiefan · 10/02/2025 21:58

Sounds like you’re after free advice to help shape a business model.

And it somehow didn't occur to you that that information would have been useful in your OP @newmamax

.......... which absolutely discourages me from saying anything about things I'd have found useful.

disheartening to see the way you’ve all come for me like I’ve said something outrageous. I appreciate constructive criticism but it’s beginning to feel like pitchforks.

OP this is all on you. You're looking for people to merrily provide you with free market research without actually explaining wtf is going on.

@newmamax

Id suggest you just put in the work and search through threads for common themes of things that people are asking for advice on.
