How can I help ds be dry at night?

7yo ds has never managed to be dry at night for more than 4 nights at a time, and that is with lifting at 10.30-11ish. Finally managed to persuade him to try going cold-turkey on the pyjama pants, and he managed 8nights (with lifting). During one of those nights he even got up and went to the toilet on his own near morning.

On the past 3 nights, each time he wetted it had happened by the time we went to him to lift him. While he was still in night nappies we had the impression that he did most of his weeing in the first part of the night.

He goes to the loo at bathtime, has a smallish drink of milk about an hour before he actually goes to bed, and has another wee immediately before he gets into bed.

He sleeps like a log. We can't actually wake him when we lift him, though he is completely cooperative.

How can we help him?

My DS is 8 and we have only just managed to get this sorted. Get a referal from your GP to an eneuris clinic if you can. Although they might wait until your DS is 8.
We were advised not to drink milk after maybe 6pm-ish. This is because its a food and so slowly digested (turns into wee in a few hours, after your DS is already asleep). We were advised to drink plenty of water, even after tea-time as this will pass through the system quickly.
We were given a small alarm to use for a couple of weeks, and a chart to keep records of amount of liquid drunk/whether he woke to the alarm etc.
Our DS, was very deep sleeper too, and wouldn't necessarily even have woken up if he was wet!
He wouldn't use bedpants - so we used disposable and washable bedmats over his sheets.
For months he was getting the luxury of clean bedsheets/duvet every night!

Forgot to say - this is really common at this age especially for boys. no one really talks about it, but you will find loads of his friends are the same.
