School trousers help!

Before anyone jumps on me, I'm not Internet savvy!

My son (just turned 15) is 6'1 and thin. He has outgrown his school trousers again, only now, I can't find anything that will fit him. The extra long ones at M&S are too big in the waist for the leg length he needs and in finding most other brands stop far too short in length, even when advertised as long. I am guessing he will need mens trousers. We live in a little village quite far from any shops (45 mins drive to the nearest) so after school shopping is a no. To avoid dragging him shop to shop at the weekend, does anyone know which shops would be best to cater for him so I can take him direct at the weekend, or any online brands that cater for long legged children (33/34 inch leg with 30/32 inch waist)

Apologies again if I sound useless, I'm not tech savvy at all and have checked the usual (Asda, Very, Tu, M&S etc)

Definitely mens trousers. Ds needs a 34 inch leg and we have got from M and S but also look on asos as they do a skinny fit in longer lengths. Next also worth a look , search for suit trousers and often they do have extra long. If you find them then buy more than 1 pair!!!!

Next worked for us, skinny and extra long - they go up to age 17 as well

I'm in the same predicament, Ds is also 6ft1". Currently wearing Next extra long but they're looking too short.

The mens sizes don't go small enough for his waist. He won't wear anything with a crease, they need to be flat fronted (to be fair that's what all the boys are wearing so I understand). He needs at least 34 length, possibly longer.

Your best bet may be a menswear shop. Have a google and see where your nearest one would be. We live in the arse end of nowhere, but our local market towns have them. They can measure him properly and will probably be able to make alterations. Even if they have nothing suitable, you’ll have the measurements, which will help when shopping online.

I buy Next men’s smart trousers with stretch. Come in a range of fits and lengths but are far the most successful (and comfortable) trousers for school that we’ve ever bought.

Only downsides may be price as I guess they are more expensive than standard school double packs. Also they don’t cope as well as the reinforced knee school versions on a football pitch! Still our go-to and highly recommended.

Thank you all. I will take him to Next at the weekend and hope for the best. I don't mind paying higher prices (as long as not ridiculously overpriced) he just outgrows his clothes so fast and always has done. Fingers crossed he hasn't much more growing to do, however he does have 3 younger brothers, 2 of which appear to be growing the same way 🤦‍♀️

Have you got a school uniform shop near you?
The kind that sells all the branded jumpers, ties, polo shirts, PE kits, book bags etc for all the primary/high schools in your area?

We had the same problem with my son who is 14, 6 foot tall and a 30 inch waist.

Menswear trousers were expensive I found- probably £25 for the cheapest pair in somewhere like M&S.

But the uniform shop had sizes beyond age 16- they then went to waist sizes and were about £16-18 a pair instead. Might be worth investigating?

This was back in the day, circa 3 yrs ago. Our friend's son very tall and really slender. He was 15 and wore age 13 or 14 extra long trousers. Mum took the hem right down until it was just the double stitching turned in and steamed out any creases. Over an inch of extra length achieved.

You won't get the irregular sizes in store, they tend to only stock the standard sizes. You'll need to order them online.
