My DSS has a party in a month's time with a school friend, a few of them are being taken bowling and to the arcade by the parents. What is the average spend/any ideas for a gift for 7 year old boy?

When I ask DSS what his friend likes I get the usual "well I dunno". I guess football, lego etc but any ideas would be great!

Whatever you can afford. I've had mine given £5 and a bag of sweets, up to more extravagant gifts from good friends. You absolutely don't match the cost of the gift to the price of the invite - this isn't an American wedding!

This is so true, my son was absolutely completely over the moon when his friend turned up to his party with THREE bags of haribo as a present for him! Another friend brought him a sweet cone and omg he was in heaven 😁

Whatever you are comfortable spending and can afford, surely?

Be that £5, £12 or more.

🤷

Yes of course. I was just curious and really appreciate everyone's comments.

I gift £20 per DC regardless of whether they do expensive activity or have a little tea party at home. I give an Amazon voucher for slightly older DC and a Smyths toys one for younger DC. They can put vouchers together and buy themselves a larger toy/gift then.
