What Do You Do With Your Childrens Teeth?

2welshmums · 30/01/2025 09:18

Just that really.
DD is 6, just lost second tooth, tooth fairy came.
Now I have two teeth in a little baggie of my top drawer, (hidden down the side of course) along with the note and picture left with said teeth.

What do you do with your children's teeth??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 30/01/2025 21:15

I know my kids won't want them and I don't really want them but throwing them away felt too wrong!! It feels different to toe nails etc because it was a much more permanent part of their body, the first six/seven years of their life every time they smile.. I don't know!! Pretty weird you're right.

sanityisamyth · 30/01/2025 21:16

All DS's are in an envelope in my bed side drawer. He's my only and will always be an only.

AliceMcK · 30/01/2025 21:25

I’ve got a purse full of them, each wrapped and labelled with each child and date, though I’ve fudged a few dates. A bit creepy as my 12yo said, but DH has a funny story from when him and his siblings found theirs and I come from a family where I have zero memories, photos memories from my childhood, so I’m going the opposite way.

I have bits of their first hair cuts too...

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 30/01/2025 21:56

I regret keeping mine and the kids thought they were freaky. Definitely didn't want to keep them
Throw them away do you don't have to in the future

Rosesgrowonyou · 30/01/2025 22:02

In the bin.

Notfastjustfurious · 30/01/2025 22:07

My DH has kept both kids teeth in a little chest. All in there mixed together so he's no idea whose teeth they are, he said he couldn't throw bits of his kids in the bin🤔
Dd2 was looking for presents and found them and so came the end of the tooth fairy. Even she was 🙄

Does he keep all their hair and nail clippings?

I string them on a chain and wear it like a necklace.

This made me lol😂

redgingerbread · 30/01/2025 22:14

Please tell me that doorknob was a joke…

Almostwelsh · 30/01/2025 22:15

I believe in some areas people used to bury them in the garden, as they used to think that a pixie could take them and use them to plant a changeling in your house, so if they were buried that danger was averted.

Even though I'm not superstitious, burying them feels nicer than binning them, so I did that

nopenotplaying · 30/01/2025 22:16

I have 5 children. 2 have lost a full set and the third has lost a few. I have a pot on top of the wardrobe where I put them. They are all mixed together 😂🙄 the dental nurse suggested I make a necklace 😂

RosesAndHellebores · 30/01/2025 22:20

I put them in little boxes in my dressing table as keepsakes. About ten years ago we moved house when the DC were about 17 and 20. When I was packing I came across the little boxes of teeth and they were a minging sight. They went straight in the bed and I gave myself a sharp talking to for being stupid enough to keep them.

TheSeaOfTranquility · 30/01/2025 21:07

We made had them embedded in clear resin and made into doorknobs for the doors in our old house. They looked really interesting!

Unfortunately we forgot to take them with us when we moved, but I'm sure the new owners get as much pleasure from seeing them as we did.

No, no, no. Please say this is a joke!

Floralnomad · 30/01/2025 22:35

Binned them , but I do have all my late dogs puppy teeth in a little bag . A friends son has a tooth that our pony had removed a couple of years ago - it’s huge and revolting .

DamnYouAutoCamembert · 30/01/2025 22:41

All binned here.

Mum kept mine and my sister's but forgot whose was whose. I rejected the idea of receiving any random tins of teeth, which might have once belonged to me or someone else. I think she finally binned them all when none of us showed an interest.

Same

Happyinarcon · 30/01/2025 23:47

I saw something recently where the mother had saved a tooth from each of her children and had it turned into a flower brooch, where each tooth was a bud on a stem. It looked gorgeous. I’d probably do that

Laoise542 · 31/01/2025 07:17

I'm not at this stage yet but I'll definitely be binning them. We had this conversation at work, colleagues at work who were in their 50s were clearing out their parents houses and were appalled to find their parents had kept their baby teeth and they are were in horrific condition! I don't get why anyone would want to keep them, I'd be repulsed if my mum presented me with my baby teeth!

Fizbosshoes · 31/01/2025 07:22

My kids are teens and I have most, if not all, of their teeth. I've no idea why , and they (snd most people) think it's weird!

Pineapplewaves · 31/01/2025 07:26

I got tooth keepsake boxes for both my DC, so I can keep them.

DM kept my teeth and DSIS teeth but put them all in the same pot so they mean nothing to us as we don't know whose is whose so they'll just get thrown in the bin when DM is no longer here.

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 31/01/2025 22:00

I put them in the bin where they belong. Keeping them is ghoulish. I cannot think of any sensible reason to keep them.

Nope. If Id bought your house........ we'd have had a laugh about how weird you are, removed them that same day and then either given/posted them to you or if you hadnt given us a contact address........ straight in the bin. Utterly grim.
