Sleeping

So my little boy struggles to sleep lying flat, he just cries instantly and will only sleep on me or his dad or in his swing which is slightly raised. we have looked into silent reflux as we think that could be the issue but we aren’t sure how to help at night or what works when he doesn’t want to lie flat. And i know he can’t sleep in his swing. Any advice or tips for my baby who won’t sleep flat?

My HV advised to put some books under the head end of the cot bed (under the legs) to lift it a bit higher. If you have a cot bed that might be worth trying.

My son wouldn't sleep flat in the cot but would cosleep safely - for him it wasn't reflux but he just wanted to be close

Oh gosh he's a tiny thing.
Mine was the same ans at this young age my husband and I would just take shifts of holding him whilst the other slept. Hard work and need to keep moving around so don't fall asleep.

Otherwise look up safe co sleeping and try that.

It's a tough time and you are likely exhausted already from birth. Good luck and patience. Remember day 4 is the worst for hormone surges as well for you.

At 4 days old I would say this is quite common. My two at that age would only sleep on me. After a couple of weeks they started sleeping in the next to me. Two weeks felt like a lifetime sleeping sat up every night. We hadn’t take shifts to sleep lying down or watching the other in case the baby rolled off.
