Family summer camp?

Hello! Looking for a family summer camp type thing for my family of 4 this summer (two boys ages 4-6) for just a few days. Think Camp America style: fun outdoor activities and competitions, maybe a colour war marshmallows and a camp fire... Not massively interested in music festivals but Camp Bestival and Camp Kindling look okay, just a bit worried about nighttime noise. Both my kids are ND and would struggle with loads of noise at night, hence why looking for something with more focus on summer camp rather than music festival. Any ideas? Anyone been to Camp Bestival or Camp Kindling or any others, and can reassure me re nighttime noise? Or can anyone advise something else with a family summer camp vibe? Would also consider day tickets and booking accommodation somewhere else locally if too noisy onsite. Many thanks!

Is this for children and adults or just children?

If just children then PGL is probably what you want.

We've been to camp bestival and it didn't have that sort of vibe (although we and the kids loved it).

Not just for the kids... we're looking for the whole family: Looking for a family summer camp type thing for my family of 4 this summer. My kids are only 4 and 6.

Interesting to hear your thoughts on Camp Bestival as I was seriously considering booking that one! Could you describe it further please? Thanks!

Camp Bestival was a big hit with my kids.

We hired a yurt which also got us access to showers and indoor loos. Lots of food and drink vans, we also cooked breakfast outside.

Not sure whether camp fires were permitted - I didn't see any.

It was noisy. Until about 11 or 12. We went to see one of the headline artists one night and kept them up, the other night they had no trouble sleeping.

There were plenty of shows and there was a field of kids' activities - helter skelter, some workshops, some people from kids tv doing live shows.

Deershed Festival in North Yorkshire (near Thirsk)

If you are into camping, look at Walseby Forrest in Nottinghamshire. Probably exactly what you are looking for!

If you're after a real summer camp feel, Camp kindling is just that! you can join Patrols and really get involved in the games, collect points, merit patches etc. And the activities are so fun and soooo many to choose from! x

Thanks! We did look at that but according to lots of reviews I've read, the music goes on (loudly) really late and the noise at night is horrendous? Otherwise it sounds wonderful... but my kids will be nightmares if they can't sleep, so we're looking for someone more family friendly where the kids can get a decent night's sleep! Thank you though.

just joining in on this chat regarding noise at night. I went to Camp Kindling last year and found it really quiet at night. We all slept well, the kids were out like a light!

Really?! Thats fab! Thanks for the feedback. Some reviews I read said the nighttime noise was horrific but maybe they were older and things have changed since then! Will have a look at booking for next summer!

We’ve booked ticket for Camper Calling in Worcestershire in August. It’s our first music festival and seems very family friendly and pretty chilled. I think the music and noise stops reasonably early🤞 but we’ll be taking earplugs for nighttime’s and hoping our ND kids cope ok😬🥰
