How much should you get for maintenance

I know the government have guidelines but interested in other arrangements.
I'm on quite good terms with DC's dad apart from money. He'll only work some of the time depending on what work is available. When he's not working I get nothing, which is a lot of the time. For the first five years of her life I also got nothing at all. How much would you ask for when he is working. What's a reasonable amount per month/ over a year. Interested to hear what others get.

I would go with goverment guide lines and I would expect he paid every months. Child has to be paid for even he doesn't work.

@Mumchp - it's tricky as he won't pay when he isn't working and won't find interim work. He only wants to do the work he enjoys doing. But when he is working he pays more than the 12% per week that government stipulates.

Personally I think the guidelines should impute a basic full-time minimum wage. If someone is too sick to work, they can show evidence that they need an exemption.

Thanks @Ponderingwindow - I agree. It's a point of tension that he won't get other work when he's not working.
