Best vitamins for pre schoolers

I've tried what feels like every vitamin out there and they all get rejected by my three year old. I've tried hiding them in smoothies, purées etc but she can sniff out medicine or vitamins a mile off. She has constant nursery bugs and is susceptible to colds so I really want to get some vitamins into her. Please can anyone recommend some neutral tasting vitamins for a three year old? I've also tried gummies and she just licks them and says yuk.

Does your child need it? Most are fine without.

Depends on their food intake which we won't know.

Mine is still quite happy on the 6m+ kids daily health multivitamin liquid, Boots Own brand. Strawberry flavour. My kid is 4.

I load it into a Calpol syringe and hand it over to them. I also have a 1yo who is too small for gummies so we just stuck with the liquid.

I don't try and hide them but we do a little vintamin dance and song when we take them and conga into the kitchen for vitamins 😆

I buy Boots on brand gummy vitamins. They're shaped like teddy bears and just taste like a haribo sweet to me.

It's recommended to have a daily vitamin from 6 months until 5 years.

We give vitamin via syringe into mouth every night. It's super sour,I thought disgusting, but both kids love it and have done from day 1, they think of it as a treat!

Total waste of money, if your child has a balanced diet they don’t need vitamin supplements.

Just avoid UPF and your kid will be much better off

we use these, they’ve recently had them in Costco at a good price. Our 3 year old loves them, will ask for it if I forget 😊

Recommended by who? When I’ve asked our doctor they said it’s usually not needed.

Better You Multivit Junior is a spray, soray in the mouth daily, my kids dont mind it.
Also Nutrimagen has a tasteless, ouderless powder one. Used to get from Holland& Barrett and mix in their food but was much more difficult than the spray.

My nearly 3 year old has abidec. It's a liquid and available in boots, Superdrug etc. I add some to her oat milk at breakfast so she can drink it. She calls it 'medicine milk' and drinks it quite happily

We do the syringe approach with the wellbaby liquid multivitamin. DS1 didn't touch anything that was contaminated with it, but didn't seem bothered by the syringe approach.

dementedpixie · 22/01/2025 13:41

Maybe try a spray one
@Isabella777 the NHS recommends supplementing with vitamins A, C and D until age 5

InTheRainOnATrain · 22/01/2025 13:46

I think advice is that everyone in the UK should be taking vitamin D, unless they’re a baby on formula as that contains it already. And most kids don’t have a perfect so may as well make it a multivitamin. Mine like the haliborange strawberry gummies. Apparently they taste exactly like gummy bears. The wellkid peppa pig gummies if those are the ones you tried already taste like soap according to my 2!

Yourethebeerthief · 22/01/2025 13:55

@Isabella777

The NHS.

No harm in a gummy vitamin every day just to cover all bases.

Ahh ok I knew about Vitamin D didn’t know about the others. Gummies are terrible for the teeth though.

Yes, my little girl who is Peppa obsessed point blank refused the Peppa ones after trying them.

One minuscule gummy bear eaten on the side of egg and soldiers or a bowl of porridge, along with brushing twice a day, will not do any harm to teeth.

Raised 4 healthy kids just feeding them a balanced diet with no vitamin tabs 🤷🏼‍♀️
